Raíces Activities
One of the missions of the Corrales Historical Society, and Raíces in particular, is to educate the public about the history and culture of the Village. In 2026, Raíces developed a school curriculum, specifically aimed for 7th graders at the Corrales K-8 School. The curriculum included modules in the history of the people and land; the role of descendant families, agricultural traditions, cultural traditions, and tours of the Old Church and the cemetery. It took place between January 2026 - May 2026. The students were eager and enthusiastic learners. The school administration and the social studies teacher were supportive and encouraging of continuing in the 2026-2027 school year, which will take place. Other Corrales schools have expressed interest in having Raíces offer abbreviated programs for their students as well.
Raíces continues to explore other avenues to implement its mission to provide a venue for its members to network and share stories, educate the public about our history, heritage, and traditions, and promote querencia, an emotional and cultural sense of belonging to the place where our heart resides, Corrales, and convivencia, coexistence with one another.
