About Us
The Historic Old San Ysidro Church was built in 1868. The Corrales Historical Society was founded in 1974 as a non-profit organization that would care for and manage Corrales' then century-old San Ysidro Church after the parish moved to a new larger building. For many years CHS concentrated on the restoration of the church, ensuring that its essential historic features were kept while its usefulness as a community resource was enhanced.
The Society continues to maintain and preserve the authenticity of the Old Church. CHS is dedicated to promoting a greater appreciation and better understanding of the history and traditions of the community of Corrales, a centuries-old agricultural village just north of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Old Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and also listed on the New Mexico Register of Cultural Properties. It is located at 966 Old Church Road in Corrales, New Mexico.
CHS invites you to learn about the history of our village and the Old Church, and to join us in our efforts. If you do, you will enjoy the company of like-minded people and have the satisfaction of knowing that your volunteer work contributes to preserving the culture and history of this unique village.
